        After one of the coldest winters in several years, spring is finally here! We are so excited to be able to get outside and enjoy the cool weather. Both annuals and perennials are found in almost every garden. The difference between them is in the name: Annuals live for one year, and will need to be replanted the next year, while perennials come back year after year. If well taken care of, a perennial can live indefinitely. There are some differences in use. Annuals tend to be smaller, more colorful and also tend to grow more flowers many times on one plant. These types of plants usually continue to grow flowers until the cold weather comes, unlike perennials, which generally only have one flowering.  Some annuals can be brought inside to survive the cold. Perennials can survive the winter, either by losing leaves and staying dormant, or by being evergreen. While annuals don't survive the winter, perennials need a little care to prevent the roots from freezing. We would recommend fresh mulch and fertilizers to help keep your perennials healthy and ready for a beautiful spring.
